WELLBEING GUIDE

What to expect from a one-day wellbeing retreat in Florida

You do not have to arrive knowing what to do. You can arrive exactly as you are.

If you have never attended a wellbeing retreat, it is natural to have questions before reserving: What happens during the day? Do I need yoga experience? Will I feel out of place if I come on my own? This guide answers those questions so you can understand the experience more clearly and decide, at your own pace, whether this kind of space may be right for you.

A PAUSE CLOSE TO HOME

A day to slow down and listen to yourself again

A one-day wellbeing retreat is an experience of several hours, close to home, that brings together movement, nature, reflection, food and community. It gives you room to slow down, breathe and listen to yourself again without stepping away from daily life for several days.

It is
  • An experience of several hours in a natural setting in Florida.
  • A combination of accessible movement, pauses, reflection and women’s community.
  • A space where you can participate at your own pace and choose how much you wish to share.
  • An opportunity to make time for yourself without turning wellbeing into another demand.
It is not
  • —An advanced yoga class that requires experience or flexibility.
  • —An event where you have to take part in every activity or share personal matters.
  • —A promise of a health outcome or a substitute for medical or mental-health care.
  • —A multi-day experience with lodging; each event clearly states its duration and what is included.
DURING THE DAY

What you may experience during the day

Every retreat has its own program and rhythm. Depending on its setting and purpose, the day may include the following elements:

01

Inclusive, accessible yoga

The practice is not about a perfect pose or comparison. Options are offered for different levels so you can listen to your body and choose how to participate.

02

Time to rest and integrate

Between activities there is space to pause, hydrate, eat, talk or be quiet. You do not have to move quickly from one experience to the next.

03

Mindful walk

The walk invites you to feel the body in motion, observe your thoughts and enjoy contact with nature. It is not about arriving first.

04

Workshop or women’s circle

It is a carefully held space for reflection and conversation. You may share, listen or choose to remain quiet.

05

Nourishing food

At my retreats, food is part of caring for the experience. The specific menu and options are listed on each event page.

06

Dance and joy

Some experiences include a moment of free dance to move, enjoy and connect with joy. You can participate in the way that feels appropriate for you.

THE APPROACH

Invitations, not commands

Each experience is guided by three principles: autonomy, connection and getting to know yourself and your body. That means you will receive invitations, not commands. You may choose among different options, rest when needed and decide how much you would like to participate or share.

Each of us has inner wisdom. When we make space to stop and listen, we can recognize more clearly what we need.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHARE

How other participants describe the experience

Every retreat is different because the place and the group are different too. Still, some themes appear repeatedly in evaluations from experiences held in Florida:

01

A real pause from daily responsibilities.

02

Greater connection with oneself and the body.

03

A warm atmosphere of respect and companionship among women.

04

Contact with nature and time to reflect without rushing.

ABOUT MARLENE

Hello, I am Marlene

I am Marlene Falcón, a yoga teacher and facilitator of wellbeing experiences in Central Florida.

Like many women, I have lived caring, solving and being available for others. I know it can be difficult to find a moment to recharge, breathe, listen to the body and allow others to take care of you too.

That is why I create warm spaces where you can recharge, slow down to listen and reconnect with yourself. Through accessible yoga, retreats and mindful walks, I invite you to pause and return to yourself with kindness.

My intention is that, from the first moment, you feel welcome, safe and free to be yourself.

If you have been holding so much for everyone else and feel you also need space for yourself, it would be an honor to accompany you.
